Nuclear Reaction, Nuclear Reaction fission, Nuclear Reaction fusion, Difference between Nuclear fission & nuclear fusion.

Introduction -

Hello friends in this article you will be know about what is nuclear reaction, What is Nuclear Reaction fission, what is Nuclear Reaction fusion, Difference between Nuclear fission & nuclear fusion etc. So let's get started....

What is Nuclear Reaction?

When two nuclei or a nucleus & a subatomic particle, collide to produce one or more new nuclides, called Nuclear Reaction.

In nuclear reaction more energy produced. Nuclear reaction most of  two types.
1. Nuclear Fission
2. Nuclear Fusion

1. Nuclear Fission Reaction -

When a energetic particle bombarding a heavy atomic nucleus (as Uranium) then it divide into two lighter atomic nucleus. This reaction is called Nuclear Fission.

Working - When a neutron react with Uranium it divides into two atomic nucleus Barium (Ba) & Krypton (Kr) and three neutrons released as shown in the reaction. These three neutron reacts further uranium atom and released 6 neutron again further it reacts and produces 9 neutron and so on...

  • 235U + 1n → 141Ba + 92Kr + 3 1n

2. Nuclear Fusion Reaction -

When two light nuclei combine each other gives a heavy atomic nucleus then this reaction is called Nuclear Reaction.

Working - When Deuterium & Tritium fused they form Helium (He) & release a huge amount of energy in the form of heat. Then this reaction is called Nuclear Fusion.
Generally fusion reaction occur in sun. The reaction has been described below via image.
** Deuterium & Tritium are isotopes of Hydrogen (H).

What is Controlled Chain Reaction?

Controlled chain reaction can be controlled by human thus it is called controlled chain reaction.

Example - Nuclear Reactor is based on the controlled chain reaction. In nuclear reactor by control rods we can control the nuclear reaction.

Nuclear  reactor -

What is Uncontrolled Chain Reaction?

Uncontrolled chain reaction can't be controlled by the human so it is called uncontrolled chain reaction.

Example - Atomic Bomb is based on the uncontrolled chain reaction.
In atomic bomb heavy atomic nucleus uranium react with a highly energetic neutron & it subdivide into two nucleus Barium (Ba) & Krypton (Kr) and released three neutron which reacts further uranium atom and released 6 neutron again further it reacts and so on. Thus number of neutrons are increase in form of 3,6,9...........
This reaction happen Immediately & a big explosive formed quickly which is called atom bomb explosion.

  • 235U + 1n → 141Ba + 92Kr + 3 1n

Difference between Nuclear Fission & Nuclear Fusion -

Nuclear Fission -
1. Nuclear Fission doesn't require lot of heat & energy.
2. This reaction doesn't occur naturally.

Nuclear Fusion -
1. Nuclear Fusion require a lot of heat and energy.
2. This reaction occurs naturally.
